Evaluation of autonomic nervous system functions by using tilt table test and heart rate variability in epileptic children

چکیده
Objective: The value of head-up tilt test (HUTT) for differential diagnosis epilepsy and the autonomic nervous system functions in
epileptic children using heart rate variability (HRV) are studied.
Patients Methods: study group consisted 16 with idiopatic/criptogenic 12 controls. Heart rate, PR
interval, corrected QT (QTc) QTc dispersion were calculated 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG), HRV analysis
was performed Holter recordings obtained both during HUTT throughout day. Time domain parameters, standard
deviation all RR intervals (SDNN), standard mean NN in five-minutes recording (SDANN), (SDNNi), root square successive differences (RMSSD), count divided
by total number (pNN50) frequency parameters low (LF), high (HF), lowfrequency/
high-frequency ratio (LF/HF) compared between two groups.
Results: Head-up positive 4 (25%), none controls positive. patients were
 higher than (p=0.015). LF/HF 24-hour recordings, significantly lower (1.13±0.6, 1.83±0.7 respectively,
 p=0.002); SDANN (28.7±20.2, 18.2 ± 19.9 respectively, p=0.024) the
 controls.
Conclusion: positivity is frequent children, cannot be used diagnosis. calculated
from 24 hour under orthostatic stress impaired favour parasympathetic
 children.

Evaluation of autonomic nervous system by heart rate variability and differential count of leukocytes in athletes
Top Japanese sprinters were evaluated for their physical condition, autonomic function, blood chemistry, differential leukocyte count and blood lactate level before and after short, maximal exercise to explore methods of quantifying their conditioning level. Statistical analysis of data obtained before and 10 min after exercise were used to estimate the athletes’ autonomic capacity during recov...
متن کاملAssessment of autonomic functions in children with familial Mediterranean fever by using heart rate variability measurements.
AIM The aim of this study is to analyze possible autonomic nerve system alterations and assess the efficacy of heart rate variability (HRV) analysis in anticipation of cardiovascular risks in pediatric patients with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). METHOD In this study, cardiac autonomic functions were investigated in children with FMF by analyzing HRV and its other probable cardiac effect...
متن کاملHeart rate variability and heart rate in healthy volunteers. Is the female autonomic nervous system cardioprotective?
AIMS Heart rate variability has been proposed as an indicator of cardiovascular health. Since women have a lower cardiovascular risk, we hypothesized that there are gender differences in autonomic modulation. METHODS AND RESULTS In 276 healthy subjects (135 women, 141 men) between 18 and 71 years of age, 24 h heart rate and heart rate variability were determined. All heart rate variability pa...
متن کاملComparing maximum autonomic activity of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures and epileptic seizures using heart rate variability
PURPOSE The semiology of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) can resemble epileptic seizures, and differentiation between epileptic seizures with no EEG-correlate and PNES can be challenging even for trained experts. Therefore, there has been a search for a quantitative measure, other than EEG and semiology that could distinguish PNES from epileptic seizures. We used ECG to measure heart ...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the autonomic activity of patients with acrocyanosis by using heart rate variability indices. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study group consisted of 24 patients with acrocyanosis and the control group contained 22 sex- and age-matched healthy subjects. All subjects underwent 24-hour Holter monitoring. Among the heart rate variability (HRV) parameters, time-domain and frequenc...
